David P. Ehman, Ph.D.,
Executive Director, is a licensed psychologist.
He earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and
an M.A. in counseling from Wake Forest University. Dr. Ehman holds an M.Div. from North
American Baptist Seminary, and is an ordained minister. Prior to coming to Midwest, he
worked for many years with the chronically and persistently mentally ill. His special
interests include depression, anxiety, childhood sexual abuse, stress management,
self-esteem, suicide prevention, communication skills, marriage enrichment and the
integration of stepfamilies.
Steven D. Segraves, M.D., Medical Director, is certified by the
American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is also subspecialty boarded in geriatric
psychiatry. He received a medical degree from the University of Kansas and completed
training in psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Segraves is
licensed in Kansas and Missouri, and is a partner in Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City. Dr. Segraves is on staff at
Research Psychiatric Center, Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital and two hospitals outside the metropolitan area. He is a member of the AMA and American Psychiatric Association.
Arnold V. Abels , Ph.D.,
Acting Clinical Director, is a licensed psychologist, earned his doctoral degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City, and an M.A. in Counseling and M.Div. degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. A member of APA, Dr. Abels is currently serving a 3 year term on the APA Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology. He is trained as a generalist and feels comfortable working with a wide range of psychological concerns. His experiences include working with issues of abuse and trauma, academic skills development, career development, depression, anxiety and other mood disorders, issues related to physical disability, family of origin problems, grief and loss, couple/relationship issues, and spirituality.
Gary Armour, M.Div.,
is a licensed marriage and family therapist. He earned his Master of
Divinity degree from St. Paul School of Theology, and has a strong
background in pastoral care having served as a pastor for 30 years. He
has specialized training in couple communication and marriage and family
relationships. Other areas of expertise include premarital counseling,
parent-child communication, divorce recovery, complications related to
aging and end of life, prostate cancer recovery, grief and loss, family
of origin issues, self esteem and self worth, adult survivors of
childhood abuse, recovery of hope, application of prayer and
spirituality in recovery, guilt and forgiveness, job loss and redefining
identity, developing skills to assist mentally challenged children and
adults. He is a cancer survivor and enjoys speaking and teaching on that
topic as well as his other areas of interest.
Antho
ny Baker, MA,
received his MA
in Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). He earned a BA in Pastoral
Ministry from Oklahoma Baptist University and is an
ordained pastor. He completed his counseling
internship with MCCC. Currently, he is working
toward his professional counselor licensure. He will
complete his MDiv degree in 2010 from
MTBS and has been accepted to the
Doctoral Program.
Anthony also serves as the Youth Pastor at Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist
Church in KCK.
Juan
ita
M. Bartel, MA, LPC is
licensed as a Professional Counselor. She earned her MA degree in
counseling from Loma Linda University in California. She is a Board
Certified Chaplain and Certified Pastoral Counselor having served in
Behavior Health and Addiction Recovery Units. She has expertise in the
psychosocial spiritual recovery process from trauma, grief and loss,
addictions and codependency.
Scott
Koeneman, Psy.D.,
psychology resident, earned his Psy.D.
in clinical psychology from George Fox University. He completed his
internship at University of Virginia Department of Student Health. He
also holds an M.A. in clinical psychology from GFU and a M.A. in
counseling from Denver Seminary. His clinical interests include the
integration of spirituality and psychology, personality dynamics,
psychological assessment, and impaired
clergy.
Willa J. Kozlowski, M.A., is a licensed
professional counselor. She earned an M.A.
in
counseling and guidance from the University
of
Missouri - Kansas City. She works with
individuals,
couples, and families. Special interests
include
anxiety, depression, stress management,
effective communications and issues of childhood
and adolescence.
Susan R. Moline-Reyes, LCSW, LSCSW,
is a clinical social worker who is licensed
in both
Missouri and Kansas. She earned a
Bachelor and
Master of Science in Social Work degrees
from the
University of Nebraska at Omaha. She
works with
children, adolescents, families, and adults.
Special
interests include anxiety, depression or
mood
disturbance, ADHD, oppositional defiant
behavior,
abuse, trauma, grief and loss.
Pamela S. Taylor, PhD,
Director of Clergy
&
Congregational Care is a licensed professional
counselor.
She received her MEd and PhD in
Counseling
Psychology from the University of
Missouri in
Columbia. She has counseled in
school
settings, in private practice, in mental
health
clinics and in the church. Dr. Taylor is
a published
author and has been the speaker
at several
Christian retreats, workshops, and
seminars.
Christina
Womacks,
MA,
received
her
Bachelor of
Science in
Biblical Studies, Psychology Minor, Summa Cum Laude and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Cincinnati Christian University. She was an intern at the University’s Counseling Center. Her clinical experiences make her particularly suitable for work with women and adolescent females in,
or survivors of, trauma such as sexual
assault/abuse and domestic violence.
